Amazon is sorry for the Yu Yureka price glitch

If you’re upset about Amazon charging you Rs 3500 extra on the first Yu Yureka flash sale, the e-commerce giant has issued a formal apology. The company notes that a glitch in the pricing forced the retail tag to get increased and the problem is being fixed so that it doesn’t happen again.

However, you’ll still have to shell out the extra bucks for the Yu Yureka smartphone from Micromax. On the upside, Amazon India will refund the extra Rs 3500 after you receive the delivery. The first sale for the Cyanogen OS powered device took place on January 13 and lasted just a few seconds.

The handset is priced at Rs 8999, but many complained that they were charged Rs 12499 instead which was due to glitch. Well, this wasn’t the only controversy of the first Yu Yureka sale. There was a report which claimed that Micromax sold less than 3000 units and not the advertised 10000.

Neither Amazon nor the Indian OEM has issued a statement on this and their silence is a bit worrisome. However, it’s highly unlikely that the company would only put up such a limited inventory especially when it had 3 lakh customers registered for the sale. The Yureka handset is one of the few 64-bit phones on the market and it’s also powered by the Cyanogen 11 OS.

Micromax Yu Yureka specs:

– 1.5GHz octa core Snapdragon 615 SOC
– Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4 KitKat
– 5.5-inch 720p HD display
– 5MP front shooter, 13MP rear snapper
– 16GB flash storage, expandable up to 32GB more
– 2500mAh removable battery

The second Micromax Yu Yureka sale will take place on January 22 and those who weren’t able to purchase the phone this week will be pre-registered for the next sale.
