Amazon launches Echo Spot in India, discounts Echo, Echo Dot

Amazon Echo Spot

Amazon has brought yet another member of its Echo family to India, the alarm clock-shaped Echo Spot with Alexa support. The new model comes just a few weeks after the Google Home and Google Home Mini arrived in the country.

The Echo Spot has some specs which none of the above devices possess – a 2.5-inch screen and camera. It’s a bit pricey as a result, selling at Rs 12999 officially. Amazon is offering it at Rs 10499 for a limited period of time through its website and select offline outlets like Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital, and Croma.

There’s also a 10% cashback deal valid on ICICI Bank credit and debit cards for the entire Echo lineup. Amazon is promising an additional Rs 1000 off upon buying 2 Echo Spot devices. The same Rs 1000 discount is available if the customer buys 2 Echo units or 2 Echo Dot units as well.

Amazon’s even cut the rates of the Echo and Echo Dot. The former is Rs 2000 cheaper at Rs 7999, while the latter is Rs 500 cheaper at Rs 3999. The Echo Plus doesn’t get a direct discount from its Rs 14999 cost, but buyers will get a free Philips Hue 9.5W E27 smart bulb worth Rs 2500 with every purchase.

Getting back to the Echo Spot, the 2.5-inch panel allows users to make voice and video calls with other Echo Spot owners or with iOS and Android devices which have the Alexa app installed. They can watch news briefings from channels like NDTV, Aaj Tak, and Times Now. The display also lets them look at products before buying them via Amazon.
