Alcatel OneTouch Pop C9 and Idol X+ turn up at CES 2014

The CES 2014 is awash with all kinds of mobile devices ranging from basic smartphones to high end ones. The new Alcatel OneTouch Pop C9 and Idol X+ belong to the former class of handsets. All those who were baying for a regular sized phone got an eyeful of the Xperia Z1 Compact and now here are these two Alcatel Android ones for folks after a mid-ranger.

The OneTouch Pop C9 is colored in metallic shades of navy blue, red, white, fuchsia and turquoise. There’s nothing very spectacular about the appearance of the handset in spite of its shiny back panels. With its 5.5″ display, it’s the largest in the series. You’ll see a 1.3GHz quad core processor, 2500mAh battery, 8MP camera and 2MP front lens on its specs sheet.

Next comes the OneTouch Idol X+ which sports a bar-style form factor and is painted in black as well as a very light shade of gray. A 5″ HD IPS touchscreen with a 2MP webcam above it takes up the front. Lift up the hood and you will be able to find a 2500mAh battery, 13.1MP main camera and 2GHz octa-core chipset.

Alcatel has been hinting at the octa-core processor hidden within the device with the words ‘Join us as we unleash the power of 8.’ The chipset in question is the MediaTek one which was bandied about in November last year. By the way, China’s TCL Mobile was seen launching the smartphone in late December, if you remember.
