Alcatel has officially unveiled its One Touch Idol X+ smartphone in India for a price of Rs 16,999. And as expected, the handset has been launched exclusively through Flipkart with sales expected to commence soon.
The Idol X+ falls in the same category as the Vibe Z, Panasonic P81 and Gionee Elife S5.5. The phone comes with an octa core chip from MediaTek which features eight Cortex A7s clocked at 2GHz each. This processing power is clubbed together with 2GB of RAM to deliver a smooth Android experience. Speaking of which, the phone runs on version 4.2 Jelly Bean which is quite a downer considering that entry-level phones have managed to ship with KitKat onboard.
On the upside, there’s a 5-inch 1080p IPS OGS display on the front with Asahi Dragon Trail Glass. Accompanying it is a 2MP webcam, while a 13.1MP camera can be found on the rear with 1080p recording. For storage, there’s 16GB on flash memory, but no microSD card slot. And there’s no confirmation on whether the phone has USB OTG support. Dual SIM support is obvious and the phone is compatible with HSPA+ 21Mbps networks.
Here’s a roundup of the specs:
