The Flipkart exclusivity of Xiaomi phones has come to an end, even as Airtel has announced that it will soon be offering the Redmi Note 4G through its branded stores in India. Interested parties will need to pre-book the handset online, and then visit their nearest shops to grab their orders.
With the device, those residing in select territories will be able to take advantage of the carrier’s ultra-fast LTE network. It has been made clear that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G won’t be locked on Airtel, which means it will be the same model that’s currently being sold through Flipkart’s flash sales, and buyers will be able to use it with other operators if they wish to.
This Rs 9999 Xiaomi phone will be available at 133 Airtel stores across six cities, namely Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Kolkata. Interested parties will need to book their devices from Airtel’s dedicated Mi page after selecting the preferred store where they wish grab them from.
There’s a small catch to this deal however. Those on prepaid as well as those without an Airtel connection will be required to opt for the carrier’s myPlan data pack before buying the Redmi Note 4G. The telecom operator’s postpaid subscribers with at least 500MB of 3G data activation won’t need to do this.
Here’s a good look at the specs of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G:
– Display: 5.5-inch IPS, 720p HD
– OS: Android 4.4 KitKat-based MIUI ROM
– Processor: 1.6GHz quad core Snapdragon 400
– Memory: 2GB RAM, 8GB storage (expandable up to 64GB)
– Camera: 13MP rear, 5MP front
– Battery: 3100mAh
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is also supposed to go on sale through Flipkart on January 6 along with the Redmi 1S.
