Activision rolls out rock tunes with the new Guitar Hero 5 game

All Activision has told us so far about the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 title is that it’s going to be available in fall 2009 along with two other offerings dubbed DJ Hero and Band Hero. One of the company’s publicity partners has reportedly released some details related to the gameplay and other features.

Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan, Blue Orchid by The White Stripes, Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon, Runnin’ Down a Dream from Tom Petty and Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones are going to be in the list of songs playable in the game.

One major change is that the new title will let players rock to any combination of instruments instead of sticking to the one-player, one-instrument limitation, something for which rival offering Rock Band is also known. The gameplay modes that have been leaked so far mention RockFest and Party Play.

Some other subtle differences over Guitar Hero World Tour will also be present in Guitar Hero 5, says GameSpot. The new game will additionally allow fans to play all the downloadable music that has been released for the series so far.

The pricing and exact launch date details are yet to be made available officially or unofficially. There are high hopes all around that Activision will reveal much more at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles next month.
