Active Media Products has previously enticed entertainment enthusiasts with various small form factor SSDs and USB drives plucked right out from its extensive kitty. Adding to that array is a new offering that seems to catch the attention of not only the primitive cavemen but data hoarders as well. The company unfurls the SaberTooth Z4 line of consumer grade 1.8-inch PATA ZIF SSDs.
The SaberTooth Z4 sports a measurement of 2.8 x 2.1 x 0.2 inches while offering industry standard PATA ZIF interface making it swappable with standard 1.8-inch ZIF HDDs. The company caters to consumer as well as professional laptop upgrades while utilizing MLC NAND Flash as the storage medium.
“We developed the SaberTooth Z4 series as a cost-effective yet high performance upgrade solution for scores of laptop models using 1.8-inch ZIF drives,” said Jerry Thomson, vice president of sales at Active Media Products.
Providing users with reliability and performance, the firmware is embedded with garbage collection, bad block management and wear leveling. When pitted against conventional PATA HDDs, Active claims to offer quicker bootup, shutdown speeds and application load. The latest entrants have the ability to support sequential read and write speeds of up to 80MB/sec and 38MB/sec
The SaberTooth Z4 PATA ZIF SSD can be procured in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities individually priced at $99, $189 and $349. They can be purchased via Amazon or ActiveMP.com.
