There’s a lot of speculation regarding desktops going obsolete. Gaming PCs now come in extremely small form factors and AIOs are basically becoming large sized tablets. Panasonic’s Toughpad 4K and Asus’ Transformer AIO are good examples of this. Acer also feels the need to deliver a device that can provide a complete PC experience in a highly portable form factor. The result is the Acer Aspire Z3-600.
The latest AIO comes with a 21.5-inch 1080p FHD display with 10-point touch input. Design-wise, Acer has made it very flexible. Through the inclusion of a hinge design, the PC can be placed at up to 90 degrees upright or completely flat on a surface for gaming or collaboration with others. The Aspire Z3-600 is also said to be very slim, but no specific details have been provided regarding the dimensions.
Additionally, thanks to a built-in battery, the AIO is also portable. The company asserts that it can deliver over 2.5 hours of activity when unplugged from a wall outlet. The Aspire Z3-600 is powered by Windows 8 and it sports a Pentium J2850 processor which features quad cores clocked at 2.41GHz. Acer has gone with integrated graphics from Intel’s HD series. Apart from these, you get a wide angle 1080p webcam on the front, 4GB of DDR3 dual channel RAM and a 750GB hard drive.
The Acer Aspire Z3-600 is basically designed for entertainment. Accompanying the full HD screen are 2.5W front-facing Harman Kardon speakers backed by Dolby audio. The company has also thrown in an HDMI port which is combined with MHL support for charging smartphones and USB 3.0 as well as 2.0 sockets.
The Acer Aspire Z3-600 is scheduled to go on sale this month in the US. The AIO will retail for $779 and above.
