Price and release date information of the Acer Aspire ME and XC Series micro towers reveal that they will debut along with a number of other Windows 8-based devices. These ergonomically designed systems come enclosed in a black, non-slip encasing with a deck to easily charge handheld gadgets like smartphones and cameras.
First up is the ME Series which comes with a recess deck, complete with two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports and a cable management system. A microphone output and a headphone jack are also embedded into the deck. Powered by the Intel Core i7 or i5 processors, it boasts of 10GB of DDR3 RAM expandable up to 16GB, and can offer storage space of as much as 2TB. It sports a PCI-E x 16 and two open PCI-E x 1 slots, two 3.5-inch expansion bays and an optical drive bay. The Bluetooth-enabled towers feature an HDMI connector, a VGA output, four USB 3.0 ports and eight USB 2.0 ports in all.
The compact XC Series has a small footprint and is incorporated with the Intel Core i3 2130 processors as well as 6GB of RAM. Its storage can be expanded by up to 1TB and it is said to be apt for entertainment and home computing. The systems in this range tags along eight USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI connector for establishing connections with multiple peripherals at the same time. Both ME and XC Series are deployed with 5.1 channel audio support as well as SuperMulti optical drive. Accompanied by two stereo speakers, a keyboard and a mouse, they provide access to AcerCloud which can wake a PC up from the sleep mode.
The price tags of the Acer Aspire ME and XC Series start at $649.99 and $399.99, respectively. They will be available from October 26 in the US with a one-year warranty.
