Offering entertainment buffs an eyeful of the 55-inch LG OLED TV, the company recently came out with the price details on the same. The carbon fiber reinforced plastic material of the exterior means that the engineers over at LG could chisel out a TV that shows off an extremely sleek profile.
To the query of just how thin the TV goes is the answer – 4mm. Blending in Smart TV capabilities and Cinema 3D intelligence, the device is said to tip the scales at just 10kg. Apart from unveiling the 55-inch TV for its European audiences, the company also took the covers off a line of premium TVs. These covered Cinema 3D Smart TVs as well as Ultra Definition 3DTVs.
“With OLED TV leading our premium product line-up in Europe, we have a very strong case to become the number one TV brand in this region,” explained Stanley Cho, head of LG’s Europe Operations. “Until that day, we will continue to develop the products that have made us the most innovative home entertainment company in the industry.”
LG’s 4 Color Pixel technology employed in the OLED TV leans on a white sub-pixel for fine-tuned color output. Then there’s the Color Refiner that’s meant to raise the quality of visuals by another level or two. The company also insists that the screen delivers ‘a perfect viewing experience without distortion or loss of contrast regardless of ambient brightness or viewing angle.’
As for those wondering about how much they’d have to fork out in order to lay hands on the 55-inch LG OLED TV, Engadget is reporting a price of €8,000, that’s over $10,000, for it.
