New Feature –
WhatsApp users who wish the app had support for video calling may finally see their dreams come true. A new leak suggests the feature is in development and will roll out to iOS devices soon.
The WhatsApp video calling function is going to be accessible through both Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The screenshots which have been leaked depict a full-sized feed taking up the handset’s display, with a small window on top which previews the face of the user. The latter can additionally be moved anywhere around the screen.
Arriving on App Store –
People will be also be able to mute the conversation and switch between the rear and front-facing camera. As per German Apple blog Macerkopf (via International Business Times), the video calling feature will make an appearance in version 2.12.16.2 of WhatsApp. The current variant in the App Store is 2.12.12, which means the new tool may be arriving in the next update iOS users receive.
Android Users –
Android consumers won’t be far behind, with a release supposedly in the works soon after the iOS rollout. There’s no official news on when that is set to happen, with speculation betting the upgrade will come out by early next year as the app is still being tested by developers and beta users.
New Layout –
WhatsApp is also going to introduce a new multiple chat tab layout. The new look has been designed to allow individuals to quickly switch between conversations without having to constantly go back to the main chats list. The application itself might go through a style overhaul, with a special emphasis on the color green.
