The 2018 iPad Pro refresh is due to arrive soon, with many reports offering some last-minute insights into the Face ID-enabled tablet series. Apple is expected to launch the device alongside new MacBooks and the AirPods 2.
According to Twitter tipster CoinCoin, Apple isn’t going to include a 3.5mm headphone jack with the 2018 iPad Pro. This might upset some die-hards who don’t want to let go of the trusty port. Even worse, there’s no guarantee that the company will bundle a headphone jack adapter since it stopped including them with its iPhones this year.
2018 iPad Pro Slim Design
CoinCoin also predicts that the 2018 iPad Pro will be very slim at a 5.9mm thickness. To put this in context, the iPhone XS is 7.7mm thick and the current iPad Pro is 6.1mm thick. This slender design might explain why Apple decided to let the 3.5mm headphone jack go.
9to5Mac reports that the new tablet series will have a brand new A12X processor. The latest iPhone XS and iPhone XR series run on an A12 SoC, so the A12X should be even faster. Sources say it’ll contain an advanced A12X GPU so that it can offer a more powerful processing punch.

Interestingly, it seems Apple might be ditching its standard Lightning connector for a USB-C one. This will allow the iPad to output 4K HDR video to external displays. It’s a huge change for the brand since all its modern iPhones and iPads have a Lightning port. Hopefully, this means the tablet will natively support fast charging.
There’s also a new Apple Pencil on the cards. Apparently, people will be able to pair the accessory to the iPad Pro just by proximity. It’ll work exactly like the AirPods in that respect. The firm is said to be including a new Magnetic Connector as well, allowing third-party accessories and the Smart Keyboard to seamlessly connect to the iPad.
