Pentax has announced two new digital SLR (D-SLR) cameras in the Indian market— the K100D and the K10D. In addition to the D-SLR launch, the company also unveiled six consumer-level compact cameras.
The Pentax K100D incorporates some significant features such as Pentax’s own Shake Reduction (SR) system, high-precision autofocus and auto sensitivity control. Along with these features, the K100D comes in a compact body, which really helps when lugging the camera around on outdoor shoots. Furthermore, it boasts an effective resolution of 6.1 megapixels and includes a 2.5″ LCD screen. It offers a top shutter speed of 1/4000 to capture fast moving objects. Moreover with its 2.8 images per second shooting speed, you’ll surely capture the right shot. The Pentax K100D is available at an MRP of Rs 46,999
The second D-SLR by Pentax is the K10D 10.2 megapixel camera with a range of advanced features, which include a Dust Removal system to keep your images spot-free, and a dust-resistant, weather-resistant body. With these features, you no longer need to run into hiding when the forces of nature get a little rough at your shooting locations. The Pentax K10D is priced at Rs 44,599.
Now let’s come to the six consumer-level compact cameras by Pentax.
The first and foremost is the Pentax Optio E20, an entry-level model that shoots at a resolution of 6 megapixels and offers the barebones 3x optical zoom. What does make the E20 interesting is the 2.4″ LCD screen, ACDSee for Pentax as a bundled application and Pict-Bridge support. Pentax Optio E20 is priced at Rs 11,499 (MRP).
If you are keen on watersports, then you surely need to take a look at the Pentax Optio W20 waterproof digicam. You can take these digicams with you into a swimming pool or scuba diving (not too deep), without an additional underwater casing or housing. The 7 megapixel resolution and blur reduction technology make it a good deal either-way. At Rs 21,999 MRP, you can go crazy with the underwater pics.
The third Pentax cam launched is the Pentax Optio M20, which offers extended battery life with just 2 AA batteries. The 7 megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom and a 2.5″ LCD screen makes it a pretty decent buy at its Rs 13,499 MRP.
Next is the Pentax Optio T20 that offers an impressive 3″ LCD screen, so that you don’t miss out on the little details of your composition. Along with offering a bigger screen, the T20 sports an ultra-compact body, 7 megapixel resolution and 12 versatile shooting modes. Pentax Optio T20 comes at an MRP of Rs 17,199.
The Pentax Optio S7 offers a slim body, 7 megapixel resolution with 3x optical zoom, and blur reduction technology for those with jittery hands. Comes at an MRP of Rs 17,999.
And finally it is the 10 megapixel Pentax Optio A20, which features three types of anti-shake functions making it ideal for the nervous kinds. The Pentax Optio A20 is priced at Rs 29,999 (MRP).
