A new budget-friendly slate has made its way into India in the form of the Zync Z-990 plus. The tablet in question is the successor to the Z-990 which launched back in March, the first slate in the country to come powered by the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform.
Build around a lightweight and portable form factor weighing not more than 380 grams, the device employs a 7-inch touchscreen portraying a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Hidden under the display are various hardware components including a 1.5GHz processor that’s supposedly faster than the one in the original Z-990, a Mali 400 graphics chip and 1GB of RAM for enhanced multitasking capabilities.
Ashish Garg, Director, Zync, noted, “Riding on the success of our first ICS tablet, we at Zync have thoughtfully launched an enhanced version of the tablet which will enable consumers to experience better processing speeds and capacity. Our strategy has been to provide unique product offerings coupled with distinctive value additions to customers and our tie-up with BigFlix and Ibibo extends our presence for tapping the youth fever in India.”
On the storage front, the slate packs in 4GB of in-built hoarding capacity which is further expandable up to 32GB. In addition to the aforementioned features, the Z-990 plus houses a stereo speaker system, a 3.5mm audio jack, a 0.3MP front camera with video recording, external 3G dongle support via a USB 2.0 port, Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity and an HDMI port. A 3600mAh Li-ion battery powers up all components listed out.
The Zync Z-990 plus price in India amounts to Rs. 6,490. The tablet is currently available for purchase through outlets such as Balaji Solutions and various retail websites including HomeShop18, seventymm, indiatimes, futurebazaar and naaptol. The additional accessories shipped with the device comprise of a screen guard and a lycra sleeve.
