µTorrent Beta for Android download goes live on Google Play

µTorrent Beta App Android

With the µTorrent Beta for Android application going up for grabs on the Play store, the popular lightweight desktop torrent client has now ventured into the mobile ecosystem. The release takes its place amongst the BitTorrent lineup which comprises of Remote apps for iOS and Google’s mobile platform.

Being the company’s official client for mobile, users will be able to search for torrents through an easy-to-use interface and download content straight to their smartphones and tablets. Apart from RSS subscriptions, the application provides quick access to a wide catalog of content from an extensive list of artists and creators that have collaborated with BitTorrent.

“µTorrent became famous for being the most powerful and lightweight BitTorrent client in the world. Today’s release, and everything we are doing with the µTorrent brand, is about staying true to that vision,” expressed Eric Klinker, CEO of BitTorrent Inc. “We’re making it easier than ever for Android users to download their favorite personal content directly to their mobile device—something consumers are doing more and more, as their smart phones and tablets come equipped with large amounts of storage space.”

In addition to the aforementioned features, the application doesn’t impose any restrictions on the maximum speed for download and upload or even limit the size of files which are being transferred. And users will be able to utilize the client over cellular networks and Wi-Fi. Needless to say, the latter is recommended for downloading heavy files to avoid extensive data charges.

The µTorrent Beta for Android application is available for download through Google Play free of charge.
