‘BSNL Tunes’ – A Ring back tone service launched for Postpaid Mobile Subscribers in Chennai, India
The Chennai telecom division of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has become the first BSNL circle in India to introduce BSNL Tunes, a value-added ring-back tone (RBT) service, for its postpaid mobile subscribers. The BSNL Tunes services have been launched on the short code 567.
The company said that BSNL Tunes is an innovative, value-added ‘Ring back tone’ service, which will be provided to all its postpaid mobile subscribers in Chennai.
BSNL also said that BSNL Tunes service offers mobile subscribers in Chennai the option to set their favorite songs as ring back tone for all callers to listen to instead of the usual ring tone.
Speaking on the occasion, Sidharth Sharma, National Sales Manager, OnMobile, said, “BSNL subscribers had been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Ring back tone services which had been launched by private operators more than one year back.”
Considering the intricacies of BSNL’s multi vendor network, the introduction of these mobile services is thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of BSNL and the technical abilities of OnMobile in making certain the successful launch of these services for the Mobile subscribers of the South zone. The services on IVR are based on the tried & tested voice recognition technology that OnMobile Asia Pacific Pvt. Ltd. has been using to power the now famous BSNL IVR service 12555.
The BSNL Tunes services are charged at Rs.20/- per month for subscription & Rs.12/- per song selection as an RBT. The BSNL Tunes services can be subscribed to via the voice channel as well as via SMS for which subscribers are charged accordingly as per the BSNL tariff plan for the services.

I suggest BSNL operators to have a separate selection code for Caller Tunes of Gazals on 567 services as in option menu a few Gazals are available as a part of Old Classical Hindi Songs.
Secondly, I suggest to provide the menu option for caller tunes selctions from movies of the eminent film director producers like Yash Chopra , Late Raj Kapoor & Subhash Ghai
