Nokia AD-42W gateway Nokia, on Wednesday released The Wireless Audio Gateway, a new Bluetooth embedded addition to its multimedia phones. The new add-on will let the user stream music between their compatible phones, stereos, PCs and wireless headsets.

The gateway can connect via RCA cables or through Bluetooth. It’s attuned with any other device that supports the Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP) profile, which at present is available on the Nokia 8800 series phones. In a statement vice president of Nokia Enhancements Razvan Olosu said, “Nokia enhancements are designed to align with consumer’s needs and the Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W lives up to that promise, by allowing them to use their digital music in a multitude of ways.”

While the device is primarily intended for transferring and listening to music from Nokia handsets, the company said it could also be used to listen to music stored on computers that are compatible with the device.

Nokia’s Wireless Stereo Headsets and Bluetooth Headset BH-601, as well as the Nokia Wireless Audio Adapter AD-47W, are compatible with the gateway.

That’s not it; Nokia plans to introduce several other A2DP devices later this year. In a statement released by Nokia in 2005, the Wireless Audio Gateway will most probably be released this quarter.
