Mobile VoIP Service introduced by Mobiboo
Commercial VoIP Wi-Fi network operator in the UK Mobiboo, has kicked off its mobile VoIP service. The company started its service with UTStarcom’s F3000 clamshell Wi-Fi handset and the Mobiboo Dashboard PC phone.
Richard Newsome, Commercial Director at Mobiboo, said, “The cost-savings of VoIP have already been proven by companies such as Skype. Mobiboo has gone one step further to replicate a true mix of traditional mobile, DECT and landline phone services to provide both residential and business customers with a credible alternative, thus giving real value for money.”
“In a nut shell, a mobile number, DECT functionality and landline pricing with the additional coverage available with Wi-Fi,” continued Newsome.
The F3000 features a full-color, 1.8″ LCD screen, polyphonic ringtones, text messaging capability, talk-time of up to three hours and stand-by time of around 75 hours, while Mobiboo Dashboard offers the capacity to send instant messages and files to other Mobiboo Dashboard users.
“We are delighted to be partnering with a major mobile VoIP handset manufacturer,” noted Newsome. “UTStarcom gives us credibility around the world and their new handsets look fantastic. The reliability of the device is excellent and we feel that it is the first Wi-Fi handset to really bridge the divide between VoIP and cellular mobile. Putting the right device with the right service is key to providing the best customer proposition.”
John McCall, UK Manager at UTStarcom, said, “There has been a massive growth in demand for mobile Voice-over-IP devices as the number of public Wi-Fi hotspots and prevalence of wireless routers in people’s homes and offices increases. The Mobiboo service enables consumers to reap the benefits of VoIP, while retaining the familiarity of the traditional mobile experience.”
