Orange’s latest initiative can be called a lesson in group effort and caring for others. The company is launching People Projects, a social media service that enables people to get a little nudge or more in the right direction with their projects. Orange claims that the new application holds true to their ‘Together we can do more’ vision.
The service debuts as a Facebook app and a separate website too which will allow users to lend as also receive help with personal or community-centered projects. The program hosts features such as a project page, tools to promote it and send virtual rewards to volunteers. Moreover, the application offers a timeline to keep everything moving according to schedule, task list and events tool to plan meetings.
“Launched in July 2008, our brand vision together we can do more highlights the positive power of the collective, affirmed Caroline Mille, the Group’s head of communications. “Individuals today have growing aspirations to pool their initiatives and act together to tackle projects that they would not have been able to successfully achieve alone.”
Users can volunteer to help with the project or view and distribute it or even promote it. Every project has a page dedicated to it with its link provided on Facebook. Project owners may ‘opt-in’ to make their work part of the Orange People Projects site that displays the assignments taking place on Facebook. The company plans to highlight eight of the most inspiring projects on the site’s homepage.
The application equips people to reach out to project owners or get in touch with volunteers and communicate with them. People Projects has currently been released for people residing the U.K and France only. Facebook members can download the program to start projects and invite others to pitch in. The company will launch People Projects as a mobile application at a later date.
