Google Headquarters Google plans to launch software that is similar to Microsoft’s hugely popular PowerPoint program. The two technology giants are constantly in a competitive mode to dominate the online experience of users worldwide.

Google Chairman and Chief Executive, Eric Schmidt described the Google’s ‘PowerPoint-rival’ software on Tuesday at a conference for Internet entrepreneurs.

Eric Schmidt also blasted Microsoft and AT&T, whose executives complained a few days earlier that Google may soon have an illegal monopoly in online advertising.

Basically, Google had announced on Friday that it would pay up $3.1 billion to acquire ad-management technology company DoubleClick. Almost as soon as Google announced the cash acquisition, Microsoft and AT&T executives said that deal could violate anti-trust legislation, which could further result in a dangerous concentration of Internet user’s personal data at Google.

However, Schmidt reported, “Give me a break. They’re wrong. It’s false. The verbal volleys come as Microsoft and Google escalate the rivalry to control how people use the Internet. Microsoft has long dominated the computer desktop with its Windows operating system.”

Both Google and Microsoft offer email, word processing and spreadsheet programs amongst other tools. Google’s new presentation software will compete against Microsoft’s widely used PowerPoint software which is part of the popular Office suite.
