Windows Vista Price cut in China
Software giant Microsoft has taken a bold step by offering their recently launched Windows Vista operating system for a much cheaper price in the Chinese market.

Microsoft has cut the price of the Windows Vista operating system software package by more than half in China.

The company’s Windows Vista Home Basic software has got itself a price cut to 499 yuan ($66) from 1521 yuan, while the price of its Premium package has been slashed from 1802 yuan to 899 yuan.

This offering from Microsoft has been available in China from August 1 onwards. In fact, the price cut was made in an effort to meet market demand for the operating system that was only recently launched.

The software giant wishes to push to sales of its Vista OS package. Most know China to be the biggest markets for pirated software. Thus, the Redmond giant wants to combat software piracy that is hugely prevalent in the Chinese market.

Now that Microsoft has introduced such a dramatic price cut solely in China, it may only attract negative reactions from other countries worldwide, which have to pay the usual “high” price for Windows Vista.

However, Microsoft did mention in its press statement that they have plans to sell other variants of its Windows Vista operating system such as the Vista Business and Vista Ultimate versions, at a lower price.
