Deligio, founded by Matthijs van Schendelen en Rodger Buyvoets in July 2006, aims to develop a platform for web users to discover, add and share their favorite software on the internet, based on the ‘Web 2.0′ principle.

Speaking about this, Rodger Buyvoets, co-founder of Deligio said, “Initially we wanted to create a search engine for our own use which would enable us to search and find software. The well known website Download.com is too ambiguous and far too commercialized. That is why Deligio uses the Google based principle of a simple search function that will allow the user to find the most appropriate application with no unnecessary distractions. During the beta launch Deligio proved to be highly successful, therefore we rebuilt the initial tool into a fully fledged search engine for software.”

Deligio.com uses the user generated content principle and ratings where programmers, heavy PC users and system engineers form the initial target group, making it a whole different from Download.com. However, ultimately Deligio plans to become the software search engine for general public.
