Validian logoValidian Corp., a provider of application security software and solutions, has just released a new anti-piracy solution called Validian Biometric Media Seal (BMS). This new security solution from Validian has been designed and developed mainly to prevent hacking, theft and piracy of digital media such as videos, films, television programs and music during the production and post-production process.

According to Bruce Benn, President and CEO of Validian Corp., “Piracy of feature films often can be traced back to non-secure production and post-production processes. As the digital media industry further embraces digital media processing, electronic transfers, and digital projection and playback, the security vulnerabilities inherent in the electronic storage and movement of high-value digital assets multiply the risks of disclosure and theft.”

With Validian’s new anti-piracy solution that includes the Biometric Media Seal, production companies, post-production houses and studios alike will be able to:

  • Authenticate project workers using fingerprint signatures
  • Store media files in encrypted form on portable media storage drives
  • Transfer encrypted media files of any size and any format between authenticated workers and/or reviewers across the Internet
  • Track media file activity such as create, rename, modify, transfer and delete, transparently and in real-time over the Internet
  • Set universal policies which govern security and tracking levels applied on a per project basis
  • Validian’s Biometric Media Seal solution includes secure USB devices that integrate fingerprint scanning, media file transfer and tracking applications, and secure storage in a highly portable form factor. Besides, the BMS solution from Validian includes advanced back-end infrastructure that automates most security operations such as key generation. It then automatically tracks file events for all media files that are part of the project.

What’s more, is that Validian’s BMS solution can be hosted at the customer site or even with third-parties. Validian’s Biometric Media Seal anti-piracy solution will be available to customers in the second quarter of 2007.
