Windows Live Logo Microsoft is expected to launch their Windows Live services installer sometime this week itself. This installer is basically a single downloadable installer that will allow users to install all the applications and tools provided by Windows Live in one shot.

This optional, unified installer will provide access to many Windows Live services such as Mail, Messenger and the desktop blogging tool Windows Live Writer.

Some applications that are expected to be included in the Windows Live service installer package are:

  • Windows Live Photo Gallery
  • Windows Live Mail
  • Windows Live Messenger 8.5
  • Windows Live OneCare Family Safety
  • Software giant Microsoft’s upcoming offering certainly resembles what rival Google offers via its Google Pack.

Market analysts have said that the launch of the Microsoft Windows Live installer is expected to be a major event considering the fact that the company hopes to challenge existing rivals who are also contending in the Web-based service arena such as Google, AOL and Yahoo.

In fact, The New York Times has called the launch a ‘Netscape-level event’, which means that it may as significant as when Microsoft released their first version of Internet Explorer in 1995, bringing rival Netscape down to their knees.

We’ll bring you more updates on this once the product actually launches.
