Sling Media – a digital lifestyle products firm, has launched the new SlingPlayer for Mac, which is a software client for Slingbox clients who are interested in watching their home TV or Apple TV on their Apple Macintosh desktop or laptop computer.

With the release of the SlingPlayer for Mac, Version 1.0 software, Slingbox owners can now watch their television directly on their Macintosh computer screen. With full remote control, they can watch content from their home entertainment system irrespective of whether it is from cable, DVR, DVD and even a full range of Apple entertainment products including: Apple TV, Front Row, iPod in Apple’s Universal Dock or iPod in an iPod Hi-Fi.

SlingPlayer for Mac supports both PowerPC and Intel platforms operating OS X 10.3.9 and newer versions. The Slingbox already place shifts more than 5,000 audio-visual devices and SlingPlayer for Mac adds support for the latest living room technology including Apple TV, AT&T U-verse, and TiVo Series3.

The minimum requirements to download SlingPlayer for Mac, Version 1.0 are:

  • A Macintosh computer with a 700MHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor
  • Mac OS X v10.3.9 (or later recommended)
  • 125MB of free local disk space
  • 512MB of RAM (1GB or more recommended)
