Everex’s New gPC Works on gOS instead of Windows

Everex Linux Based gPC

Everex of Taiwan has designed a Linux OS based desktop that works on ‘gOS’ theme, a version of Linux specially made to run Google applications like GMail and Google Documents.

The ‘gOS’ is the Google operating System, which is available on Everex gPC TC2502, is an inexpensive hardware.

This innovative desktop is equipped with a 1.5-gigahertz Via C7-D processor, which consumes power of 2-20W, 512 megabytes of memory, an 80-gigabyte hard drive and DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive.

Besides, the PC uses an open-source office suite called OpenOffice, which supports Microsoft Word documents and some multimedia applications. Moreover, users can access other applications like Google Maps through desktop interface with a set of icons.

This ‘gOs’ Linux based PC will be available in the US market at the price of $199 thorough Wal-Mart. The package includes a keyboard and a mouse. Users will have to shell out extra for the monitor.
