Windows Live Writer

Today, Microsoft launched Windows Live, which is a free, downloadable application that runs only on a Windows-based PC. Windows Live Writers also allows one to write blog posts. So if you have a MAC-based PC, don’t bother reading further.

Since most blogging tools are web based and do not all allow you to edit exactly how the blogs looks on screen, Windows Live Writer will be useful for some writers looking for a faster and easier way to post blogs.

Windows Live Writers provides support for most blogging platforms such as Wordpress, Windows Live Spaces, Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad and others. It also allows for easy insertion of photos and stuff like Live.com Maps and tagging.

What differentiates Windows Live Writer from other similar programs is that they have released an API that allows developers to extend the capabilities of the software to publish additional content types.

However, Microsoft Windows Live Writers could have been made for Mac-based PCs, so that they could have stepped out of the same league of Google and Picasa.
