Mozilla Corp. launched their first Firefox video commercials created by community of the open-source browser.

Firefox video ads can be viewed online or downloaded and can also be shared freely. Mozilla has even provided links for embedding the video commercials in Web pages or blogs.

Mozilla Foundation is planning to release a new set of videos each day. The commercials are part of the organization’s ad campaign that has enthusiastic users help in marketing the wildly popular open source browser.

The three video ads launched portray Firefox to be more secure than Internet Explorer from Microsoft.

The Firefox video ads are a part of Firefox Flicks marketing campaign, which started on November 2004, when volunteers designed a two-page ad in The New York Times to celebrate the release of Firefox 1.0.

Christopher Beard, VP, Products, at Mozilla Corp said, “Our success has been driven by satisfied users letting other people know they are having a better Internet experience with Firefox. Firefox Flicks taps into the creative energy and enthusiasm of our community to tell the world in their own words why they love Firefox.”

Mozilla hopes to use the growing popularity of online videos to promote Firefox Flicks.
