Microsoft Windows logo In an extension to its Windows Genuine Advantage agenda, Microsoft has rolled out a new effort called the Genuine Software Initiative, which involves customers to confirm their licenses before downloading operating system updates. The enterprise will unite the company’s anti-piracy and sham prevention efforts.

Genuine Software Initiative will have its spotlight on three areas: education, engineering and enforcement. Microsoft plans to spend more time emphasising the significance of genuine software, as well as developing new protection methods such as Windows Genuine Advantage. The company has already been involved in the capture of numerous fraudsters, and anticipates working more closely with law enforcement in this regard.
