Windows 98 Logo Users of the Windows operating system, Win98 should permanently disconnect their Pcs from the internet soon. This would help to guard against possible virus attacks. Microsoft had recently announced that July 11 will be the last day of support for Windows 98 and ME. No more security updates would be offered from the company’s homepage after that date.

Axel Vahldiek from a Hanover-based computer magazine say, “This will reduce the risk that virus will exploit security holes in the system. However computers which are used for non-internet purposes will not be threatened by this. But for other computers, users should consider buying a newer machine that can support a more modern operating system. Older computers often fail to meet the minimum hardware requirements for newer operating systems.

There is no real alternative to the Microsoft support. Hence, Windows 98 users should consider this notification by Microsoft and switch to a newer operating system like Windows 2000 and windows XP.
