Da Vinci Robot makes Bypass Surgery Simple, Safe and Easier
Gadgets deliver comfort and convenience to our lives, now here’s one more gadget or a so-called robot that will be able to perform a Bypass Surgery quicker and involve fewer complications. The Da Vinci robot ensures a faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay for the patient.
Researchers say that the Da Vinci robot is more beneficial and a safer means of surgery as compared to the traditional methods of surgery. The Da Vinci robot burns a hole in the pocket by charging $8,000, but the shorter hospital stay will be able to balance it out well. The patients who got operated under the robot stayed in the hospital for approximately 4-5 days whereas the traditional open operation patients had to stay back in the hospital for around 8-9 days. The “open” bypass surgery requires a surgical incision through the sternum and leg blood vessel whereas the robotic surgery uses the blood vessel inside the chest.
It was found by researchers that 88 percent of patients with robotic bypass remained free of complications after surgery as compared to 66 percent of those with the open operation. The findings of this new-age surgery were presented at the meeting of the American Surgical Association in New York.
