Hello Doctor Columbian residents no longer have to make a long trip to visit the doctor at the hospital. The state plans to fund tele-health which eliminates the physical visit to a doctor, with the help of a camera/internet conversation with a physician.

There is quite a lot of population residing in the remote rural locations, so it has become a must for such a form of communication to set in. The technology could be of great help in reducing the tiring long travel for ailing patients.

“I think the main advantage is going to be for the patients. Especially with elderly patients; travel issues where it makes it difficult for them to get over and see a specialist,” explained Doctor Robert Koch practices family medicine at Cooper County Memorial Hospitals.

The Physician and the patient can interact using a camera and they can even discuss their problems for diagnostic reasons. This advancement in medical science will be a blessing for the elderly and the physically disabled who find it tough to travel to far off places. Tele-health is part of the Missouri Health Transformation Act and will be heard by the special committee on healthcare transformation tomorrow.
