One More Planet? One of the most important things that was responsible for the evolution of life, especially intelligent life on Earth was water. So when scientists look out for life in outer space, they normally look out for signs of water. And that’s exactly what they found some 60 light years from Earth.

Researchers have found out that there is presence of water on the planet HD 189733b, which is about 15 percent larger than our very Jupiter. However, it does not substantiate that there will definitely be life on that huge planet. But then, there is a small probability there will be.

The study was led by Giovanna Tinetti, who is a European Space Agency fellow at the Institute d’Astrophysique de Paris in France. He told Nature, “We’re thrilled to have identified clear signs of water on a planet that is trillions of miles away. Although HD 189733b is far from being habitable, and actually provides a rather hostile environment, our discovery shows that water might be more common out there than previously thought, and our method can be used in the future to study more ‘life-friendly’ environments”

Scientists have found many new planets until now, but the ones which can be termed as exciting finds are the ones like HD 189733b that have some presence of water. And even if there is life present on that planet, it would be hard to determine if it is intelligent.
