World’s First TFT Roll-Printing Technology developed by LG Display

LG Display has revealed that it is currently developing the world’s very first TFT roll-printing technology that has the ability to replace the photolithography process. The all-new technology will be demonstrated by its developer at the Society of Information Display (SID) 2008 event.

Photolithography, which is also known as optical lithography, is a process used in microfabrication to selectively remove parts of a thin film or the bulk of a substrate. It includes an intricate set of processes, for which huge and costly equipment is a prerequisite. However, by employing the roll-printing technology rather than photolithography a lot of these issues are dealt with more effectively.

Positivo Mobo and Mobo Kids Laptops introduced in Brazil

Mobo Positivo Laptop Mobo has unleashed two of its compact laptops for the Brazilian public. With a USP of “Low Cost” Mobo enters the Brazilian markets with its Positivo Mobo and Mobo Kids laptops.

The Positivo Mobo which seems like a twin model of Airis’ Kira 740 Eee PC packs in 2GB of flash memory, 512MB RAM, 1.3-megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi for internet access and a card reader that reads the memory cards. The notebook shows a 7-inch display in its compact form with a Via C7-M processor. The laptop features an input/output for headphone and microphone teamed with built-in stereo speakers and a lithium battery that provides an approximate 4 hours usage. HandTalk: A Glove that speaks for the Deaf

HandTalk Technology has always been of great help to the disabled and given them a helping hand to allow them to live a normal and healthy life like others. Inventors from Carnegie Mellon University have come up with a novel idea of a glove named Handtalk that will convert hand movements into text and allow the deaf to express themselves better.

Microsoft launches DAISY XML add-in, making Reading Easier for Print-Disabled People

Microsoft DAISY Logos Microsoft has launched a new software named Save as a DAISY XML add-in. The latest software is designed for Microsoft Office Word 2007, Word 2003 and Word XP, and will allow users to save Open XML-based text files into DAISY XML, the foundation of the globally accepted DAISY standard for reading and publishing navigable multimedia content.
