The Sony Xperia E and the Xperia E dual are the latest affordable additions to the company’s lineup of smartphones. The latter one is said to arrive with dual SIM slots, while the former runs on the Android Jelly Bean platform. One of the devices’ main highlights is that they come with HD voice support complemented by noise cancellation technology which filters out background sounds providing clear audio.
Measuring 11mm thick, the Xperia E incorporates a 3.5-inch capacitive TFT touchscreen which possesses a HVGA resolution of 320 x 480p. A 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor does all the heavy lifting with assistance from 512 MB of RAM. The rear sports a 3.2MP camera with auto focus and VGA video recording. For entertainment, Sony has thrown in its own Walkman application, the xLoud audio technology, 3D surround sound, a manual equalizer and access to the Music Unlimited service. There are also a bunch of dedicated gaming keys.
Coming to the Xperia E dual, the hardware components employed here are practically the same as mentioned above. However, instead of Android 4.1, the device will launch with Ice Cream Sandwich on-board, while an update to the newer OS will be available separately. What’s surprising is that the phones are slated to arrive with 4GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot which supports only 4GB of storage. Well, the latter part seems to be a mistake on the company website and it should read as 32GB instead.
Currently, there’s no concrete information on the price and release date for the Sony Xperia E and Xperia E dual smartphones. All that’s known for now is that the company plans on making the devices available at an affordable cost sometime during the first quarter of 2013. The former will come in black, white and pink shades, while the latter will debut drenched in black and gold hues only.
