Apple iPhone Apple has sent in word that iPhone users will be able to activate their phones using the company’s iTunes software either on a PC or Mac computer from the comfort of their own homes or offices.

Apple has said that this DIY method of activating the iPhone will save the time spent waiting in a store for the phone to be activated. Besides, it only takes a few minutes as iTunes actually guides the user through a few simple steps where they can choose their AT&T service plan, authorize their credit and of course activate the iPhone.

Once activated, iPhone users can sync all their data which includes phone numbers, contact information, calendars, email accounts, Web browser bookmarks, music, photos, podcasts, TV shows and movies. This process is similar to how one syncs their iPods with iTunes.

“There are tens of millions of people in the US who already know how to sync their iPods with iTunes, and syncing their new iPhone with iTunes works the same way,” stated Steve Jobs.

The iPhone will go on sale at 6:00 p.m. (local time) on Friday, June 29, 2007 in the US at Apple’s retail and online stores as well as at AT&T stores. The iPhone will be available in a 4GB model for $499 and an 8GB model for $599.

Apple and AT&T just announced some great and inexpensive rate plans for use when the iPhone launches.
