Microvision partners with Motorola to embed PicoP Projectors in Mobile Devices

A few days ago, Microvision, the provider of the PicoP display technology platform for projectors, wearable and car displays had announced that it has signed an agreement with Motorola.
Under this agreement, Microvision will be developing pico projector display solutions for mobile applications that will utilize the company’s ultra-mini laser based display engine known as PicoP.
According to Rob Shaddock, CTO, Motorola Mobile Devices Division, “Working together with Microvision, we are pursuing ways that projection technology can redefine how mobile consumers view and interact with the media they take with them.”
Using Microvision’s PicoP technology, tiny laser-based projectors are expected to enable a “big screen” viewing experience from mobile devices like mobile phones and PDAs.
By projecting content displayed on the mobile device screen onto a wall, object or even a curved surface, mobile users will easily be able to share Web sites or multimedia applications like movies videos, mobile TV, photographs and most importantly presentation with business colleagues or friends.
As of the now the terms of the agreement between Microvision and Motorola have not yet been disclosed.
But, the companies revealed that they will initially work together to integrate Microvision’s latest PicoP projector inside a functioning mobile device for demonstration purposes.
It is also known that this prototype handset will be using Microvision’s new, WVGA (854 x 480 color pixels) wide angle scanner.
