Samsung, Giorgio Armani team up for Stylish Designer Electronic Product Line
Electronics manufacturer Samsung has teamed up with Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani for the development of a line of high-end consumer electronic products. Slated to be part of the line are mobile phones, LCD TVs as well as other electronics used by consumers.
The first of these products unveiled has been the Samsung-Giorgio Armani luxury mobile phone. This phone that was unveiled today is a tri-band, GPRS/EDGE handset that features a 2.6-inch LCD display and a touch-screen user interface that gives off a light vibration when the user selects an icon.
Roughly the size of a credit card, the Samsung-Giorgio Armani handset measures just 10.5mm thick. Other salient features of this stylish phone include a 3 mega pixel camera, music player, Bluetooth and microSD card slot.
In keeping with the style factor, the Samsung-Giorgio Armani luxury handset comes bundled with a smart leather carry case.
This handset will go on sale in major European markets in November, while other markets outside Europe will get their hands on this stylish phone in 2008. No word on the price of the phone as yet. But, it could be expected to be a bit of the higher side looking ta the luxury factor.
Regarding the LCD TVs which are also a part of the Samsung-Giorgio Armani high-end product line, Armani plans to roll these out in January 2008 as part of its home-interiors line called Armani/Casa.
Yun Jong-Yong, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics also commented on this tie-up saying, “This powerful partnership will match great design with leading technology to ensure performance is as impressive as appearance.”
In the past, electronics manufacturer LG had teamed up with design house Prada for the launch of the uber-stylish LG Prada handset.
