Deutsche Telekom is the Chosen One to Sell Apple’s iPhone in Europe
Deutsche Telekom will now be selling the Apple iPhone exclusively in Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, Croatia and Germany.
T-Mobile, a subsidiary of Telekom has penned a deal with Apple to attain exclusive rights to sell the multimedia device in practically all European countries where it has presence, maintained Financial Times Deutschland, a division of the main FT.
While O2 will merchandise the iPhone in the UK, Orange will be doing so in France.
This is the very first time that Deutsche Telekom has agreed to share its telephone call revenues with a mobile phone maker.
T-Mobile is going to cede to Apple 10 per cent of revenue with fixed-line calls and data transfer of its iPhone clients.
This pact is surely very beneficial for Apple as it guarantees constant revenues. In addition, it also decreases the dependence on the unique iPhone sales.
As per Reuters, the iPhone is expected to hit shelves before the Christmas trading period, and will be priced at €399 (approx. $552).
There’s also a leaked print ad from T-Mobile that states that the iPhone available has 16GB capacity, which is double than what it available in the US. That’s surprising. But all the same the ad could be fake as there are a few errors that have been noted in the it.
