If you wanted to buy the iPhone but the only thing stopping you was the shift to AT&T, then here’s good news for you!

iPhoneSIMfree has made known that they are now selling their unlock solution for Apple’s iPhone device via numerous retailers. The software solution is available throughout the world, including the US, UK, Australia, Germany, and Saudi Arabia.

The iPhone gets unlocked through Wi-Fi connectivity. All features, except the visual voicemail one will run normally on any other GSM network. The visual voicemail feature requires back-end support form AT&T and thus cannot work on the unlocked version.

And if you’re already dressed up and are on your way to buy the iPhone, then STOP as sadly there is still no guarantee that the unlock will be a permanent one as Apple does have the power to overrule it with a possible future software update.

iPhoneSIMfree.com’s website states:

“We CANNOT guarantee that this software will work after any future updates for the iPhone. It does currently work on all firmware versions, up to and including, 1.02. We will naturally try to provide our resellers an updated version of our software for each firmware update, it is in our interest, but we do NOT guarantee that we will be able to do so. All updates will be free.”

But all the same, keeping in mind the immense potential the iPhone unlock market has, it is doubtful that Apple can find a permanent way to keep these solutions out.

iPhoneSIMfree’s iPhone unlock solution is being sold for a premium price of US$99.
