Yahoo! SMS Service launches in India with Major Mobile Operators
Just yesterday we had reported about search giant Google’s newest SMS alert services in the mobile phone arena. Now, Yahoo!, a direct competitor of Google has also sent in word regarding the launch of their SMS services in India.
Called oneSearch SMS, this service too provides information to users on request basis. All mobile users have to do is text their query to 58242 to receive oneSearch SMS results for Local, Weather, Finance and News Clusters. Mobile users also have the option to receive a link to view all other results on the Mobile Web.
Yahoo! has said that its oneSearch SMS service will be available for all major operators in India. These include Airtel, BSNL, Vodafone, Reliance, Idea and Tata.
Yahoo! has also announced partnership agreements with eight major mobile operators around the world to focus on distribution of Yahoo! oneSearch services.
These deals represent a combined subscriber base of around 200 million and include the following mobile operators:
