Apple iPhone Apple has revealed the launch date of its much-awaited phone iPhone. The device will be up for grabs to the public on June 29. This info was gathered through two sources, firstly a commercials broadcast on Sunday night and secondly through a company spokesman.

The device which bundles in the features of a mobile phone, media player and wireless Web-surfing device is being offered exclusively by AT&T Inc.’s wireless division, initially known as Cingular.

What’s perhaps the other most attractive feature apart from having such a breathtaking amalgamation of features is the device’s touch-sensitive screen sans keypad, which was revealed with great fanfare in early January by Apple CEO Steve Jobs. He had then given hints that it would appear in stores in June but gave no specific date.

During the keynote, Jobs described the iPhone as ‘revolutionary’ and demonstrated its features, including Multi-Touch, a touch screen display system that can tell between and react to simultaneous touch from two fingers.

Tom Neumayr, an Apple spokesman, confirmed the June 29 sale date.

The ad aired on Sunday night displayed a number of the gadget’s features and ended with the pronouncement that the phone will be available “Only on the new AT&T” and “Coming June 29.” One aired on the CW network before a 7 p.m. broadcast of “7th Heaven.”

Measuring 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.46 inches / 115 x 61 x 11.6mm, the Apple iPhone has a fully functional touch screen iPod which syncs with iTunes. It features AT&T wireless service and all the benefits of network reliability, Rollover minutes, and more. It incorporates the Visual Voicemail service, which is a first on any mobile phone available in the United States. And of course the usual 2MP camera. Furthermore it integrates unique internet browsing capabilities. It is EDGE, GPRS, GSM Quad-band, and WiFi capable and works with Windows PCs and Macs
