Today, Google and Airtel jointly announced that they have partnered to offer search services on Airtel Mobile in India. This alliance between Airtel and Google is meant to set new standards in mobile search as well as to redefine mobile Internet. As part of the agreement between the two, Airtel will bring Google search to the Airtel Live mobile WAP portal. Besides, Google also plans to start advertising through it Mobile Ads Product on the Airtel Live mobile portal.
Google is one of the leading search engines available on the Internet. Bharti Airtel Limited is one of India’s leading private sector providers of telecommunications services.
With the Google search engine on Airtel Live mobile portal, Airtel mobile users will be able to use the Google search engine to access content easily. Google will power the searches that take place on Airtel Live in two areas- on the net and off the net. Google will provide rich content on Airtel Live service in the ‘on the net’ area, and will provide Internet on Mobile as part of the ‘off the net’ area. Airtel aims to make mobile surfing a very enjoyable experience with the help of Google.
Google also plans to incorporate Google’s Mobile Ads, which are basically nothing but text advertisements based on search items. Google Mobile Ads will be displayed at the side of search results on the Airtel Live Mobile Portal. Advertisers will thus be able to reach the targeted users with their products and service on the usual cost-per-click basis.
