JAQ and SPl Smartphones unveiled by i-mate at Mobile Asia 2006
At Mobile Asia 2006, which took place in New Delhi recently there were multitudes of mobile phones unveiled by different companies like Samsung, which launched it’s SGH-X510 Clamshell. i-mate, the popular smartphone brand launched its new JAQ and SPL models in India at Mobile Asia 2006.
The i-mate JAQ is a quad-band, Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Edition powered Smartphone, which supports GPRS and EDGE connectivity. The latest model from i-mate, JAQ also supports Bluetooth and miniUSB.
The i-mate JAQ has a 2.8” wide aspect, 320×240 (QVGA) screen, a full QWERTY keypad and handwriting recognition. The storage capacity of i-mate’s JAQ is 128MB of ROM and 64MB of usable RAM. The i-mate JAQ ships with a miniSD memory card slot.
The i-mate JAQ costs around Rs. 22,500. However, if you were lucky to be at Mobile Asia 2006, you would have got the phone for Rs. 2000 less.
i-mate launched a second phone at Mobile Asia 2006, the i-mate SPL. The i-mate SPL us a slim, SLVR-like candybar form factor handset that runs Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone Edition.
Unlike i-mate’s JAQ, which was business-oriented, the SPL is more multimedia-oriented with a 2-mega pixel digital camera and MP3/AAC/WMA player. The i-mate SPL has a 240×320 screen, which is 2.2inches in size.
The i-mate SPL also has 128MB of ROM and 64MB of usable RAM along with a miniSD memory card slot, just like i-mate’s JAQ. Besides, the i-mate SPL also has Bluetooth/miniUSB connectivity, as well as GPRS, but does not feature EDGE support
The i-mate SPL will retail for a price of Rs. 15,000.
