SGH-X510 Clamshell Mobile Phone announced by Samsung in India

Samsung SGH-X510 Samsung announced its new entry level camera phone, the SGH-X510 at Mobile Asia 2006, which took place in New Delhi. The Samsung SGH-X510 is not as slim as some of the recently introduced Ultra Edition Phones from Samsung. But the SGh-Z510 clamshell phone is light at 76gms and slim at around 2cms.

The triband SGH-Z510 has GPRS and MMS features. It features 16 bit polyphonic ring tones. But the SGH-Z510 has no External memory, although the internal memory storage is 3MB. The tri-band SGH-Z510 has a VGA camera, and a 128×160 65k color display.

The Samsung SGH-X510 has Java MIDP 2.0 support, a photo editor, and Infrared port, and a spacious 1,000 entry phonebook.

Samsung says that the SGH-X510 is targeted at the fashionable and price conscious Indian youth. However, it might be difficult to pitch the SGH-X510 to the youth as this clamshell comes without FM radio. Besides, the 3MB internal memory is a little to less for the youngsters who like to store games and other media on external memory cards.

Samsung’s SGH-X510 should be priced somewhere between Rs. 5,500 and Rs. 6,000. It’s a very reasonable price as the features and specifications are very similar to the SGH-X640 clamshell that has almost double the amount of memory that the SGH-X510.
