Nseries N91, N71 and N70 Nokia together with the Indian Music Industry (IMI) has announced a new initiative called the ‘Legends of India’. This new initiative is meant especially for Nokia Nseries Music edition mobile phones.

The ‘Legends of India’, is basically a set of 100 songs by ten Indian artists including Asha Bhosle, Jagjit Singh and RD Burman. These Indian songs are preloaded on to the Nokia N91, N71 and N70 phones.

Indian Ghazal singer, Jagjit Singh unveiled the ‘Legends of India’ offering at a special event. The ‘Legends of India’, which are now available on the recently launched Nokia N91, N71 and N70 phones, offers users the free DRM-compliant songs which cover genres ranging from devotional music to Hindi film music and remixes as well.

The Nokia Nseries music edition phones comply with the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) 2.0 DRM standard, which happens to be in collaboration with Microsoft.

“Mobile devices have emerged as one of the most preferred mediums for listening to music as is also evident from the fact that over 280 million MP3 enabled devices are expected to be sold by 2010. Nokia Nseries will drive the trend and continue to introduce initiatives to deliver a superior music experience. We are confident that our new ‘Legends of India’ initiative will contribute towards promoting the music ecosystem at large, and help the Indian music industry to regularize the distribution of legal music content,” said Vineet Taneja, director, Multimedia, Nokia (India).
