Palm has added yet another Palm-OS based Smartphone to its portfolio – the Palm Treo 680. Palm launched its latest phone at DigitalLife a tradeshow held in New York City.

The Palm Treo 680 features a 320×320 color screen, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Secure Digital slot, Bluetooth 1.2, VGA camera, VersaMail 3.5, Blazer 4.5 web browser and Docs To Go Professional v8.0 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF support).

The Treo 680 comes with 64MB of user-available storage, which is nearly three times the memory of the original Treo 650 smartphone, and also it supports additional memory storage of up to 2GB with expansion cards.

The other common features of the new smartphone include MP3 player, digital camera, camcorder and video player, while the enhanced features include multimedia, built-in dial-up networking (DUN) capabilities, and Bluetooth 1.2.

“The Treo 680 is the Smartphone for everyone. It’s small, sleek, fast and comes in a variety of fun colors. It’s a great phone design, great for messaging and email, and provides users easy and fast access to the Internet and to their favorite music and pictures, and makes it easy for people to manage and balance their business and personal lives while on the go,” said Ed Colligan, president and chief executive officer of Palm, Inc.

Palm hopes to bring 20 carriers onboard for its new Treo 680 Smartphone and it will hit retail stores and online in crimson, copper, arctic and graphite. The phones will be sold in an unlocked GSM version and will come complete with a 30-day free trial to Yahoo’s music service.
