LG ‘Chocolate’ Phone to be released by Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless America’s numero uno CDMA based mobile operator has announced that it will release the “Chocolate” phone, a music player handset with similar features to those of Apple Computer’s popular iPod. The company has also announced that it will do away with the $15 subscription fee for its “V-Cast” digital media download service in an attempt to draw more users to its service and away from the iTunes Music Store.
America’s numero uno CDMA based mobile operator Verizon Wireless, has announced that it is set to launch the ‘Chocolate’ mobile phone, a music player handset with features on the lines of Apple Computer’s iPod. In an attempt to induce more users towards the tempting ‘Chocolate’ and away from the iTunes Music Store, Verizon announced that it would not levy the $15 subscription fee for its “V-Cast” digital media download service.
Its important to note that the V Cast service is compatible only with PCs running Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10. Downloaded music, however, can be played on any portable device that can handle WMA files. Additionally, any WMA or MP3 files can be loaded onto the Chocolate regardless of origin.
The Chocolate by LG is priced at $149.99, after a $50 rebate and with a two-year contract agreement. It’s currently available only online, retail sales should start August 7th. Users of the Chocolate phone have to pay $1.99 to download songs directly to their handsets using Verizon’s advanced EVDO 3g network.
