Nokia has introduced 3 new multimedia mobile phones; the N80, the N71 and the N92 based on the S60 3rd Edition and Symbian OS.

Consumers can wirelessly watch mobile TV, stream music, share photos, and send emails with attachments, using technologies such as 3G, WLAN, and Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), thanks to these new phones.

The Nokia N80 uses advanced UPnP technology to enable seamless home media networking between compatible TVs, audio systems and PCs; and is said to be the first ever such handset. N80 users can also print wirelessly to any UPnP enabled printer.

In the digital home, UPnP technology is necessary for an inter-operable network; it enables automatic discovery and remote control of devices; and is also independent of any particular physical medium, programming language, or operating system.

The N80 weighs 134 grams; qualifies as the first quadband handset geared to work on 3G (WCDMA 1900 or 2100), WLAN, EDGE and four GSM bands (850/900/1800/1900); supports the new Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map; incorporates a high definition display (352 x 416 pixels, up to 262,144 colors); and includes MPEG4 AVC decoding support for high quality video streaming.

The phone also includes features such as; a 3 Megapixel camera, CIF video capture with built-in video stabilization, 40 MB internal memory with expansion up to 2 GB, digital music player, stereo FM radio, and support for Visual Radio. The N80 is part of the Nokia XpressMusic range.

“A multimedia computer that genuinely enriches people’s lives with connected, mobile multimedia experiences, the Nokia N80 is the size of a stack of business cards. The technological leadership of Nokia Nseries comes together in the Nokia N80, offering people a new, unparalleled experience of enjoying media in the living room, by just using the Nokia N80â€?, said Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president - multimedia, Nokia.

Nokia N71 is a pocket-sized, fold-style phone featuring the latest 3G technology, high-resolution color display (320 x 240 pixels, up to 262,144 colors), new Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map, stereo FM radio with support for Visual Radio, support for digital music and videos, expandable internal memory up to 2 GB, and a 2 Megapixel camera. N71 too is a part of the Nokia XpressMusic family.

Its N92 is the world’s first mobile device with built-in DVB-H receiver, making it possible for users to watch and record live TV at any time, claims Nokia. DVB-H is a leading mobile-TV broadcasting technology, enabling low-cost delivery of high-quality broadcast programs, to mass audiences.

With the N92 users can do a number of things. They can set reminders; subscribe to TV channel packages, watch their favorite TV programs, and also create personal channel lists. The N92 incorporates features such as 4 modes including view mode, 2.8-inch anti-glare QVGA screen with 16 million colors, new Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map, FM radio with Visual Radio support, expandable internal memory up to 2 GB, a 2 Megapixel camera, and a range of connectivity options like Wi-Fi, infrared, Blue-tooth and USB 2.0. This is also an XpressMusic device.

The Nokia N80 and the Nokia N71 are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2006; at an estimated sales price of 500 Euros and 400 Euros respectively.

In Europe, Africa and Asia, the Nokia N92 is slated to be available in mid 2006 at an estimated sales price of 600 Euros.
