Best Buy sued for $54 Million An American woman sued Best Buy for $54 million after losing a woman’s laptop. Raelyn Campbell took her laptop worth $1100 to Best Buy for servicing on a broken power switch in May 2007.

In August, after returning from her business trip, when she inquired about her laptop, she was told that her laptop is yet not ready to for dispatch. Later she was told that her laptop was stolen, hence she was offered a $900 gift card in return.

Campbell refused take the gift voucher as laptop cost more than $900 and requested to pay $2100 in cash. Rather paying, Best Buy refused it.

That is the reason Campbell filed a suite against Best Buy for $54 million dollars. Such high amount was chosen just for media attention, claimed Campbell.

Even after the suit, Best Buy offered Campbell to settle the case out of court with $2100 + a $500 gift card. However now Campbell has refused that too, as the cost of the problem is much higher and includes legal costs too

Further Campbell said that she will not settle the suit unless Best Buy gives an explanation for her missing laptop.
